Help Your Liver over the Festive Season

If you have a work Christmas party coming up, you will probably be thinking of how to prepare your liver for the onslaught! Christmas is traditionally a time when people tend to let their hair downmor e, and when it comes to drinking most people go for it over the Christmas  season! Even the most sober of people will have a few drinks at this time of the year. The bars are full of good cheer, the shops are full of people shopping for festive outfits perfect for their parties such as mens designer shirts form Farah shirts
and ladies looking for beautiful ball towns for a black-tie party at a posh hotel. But how can you make sure you stay as healthy as possible during the party season?

Your liver can take a bit of a battering when you are drinking constantly, but some foods and drink sare good for your liver – and these are the ones you will want to be stocking up on at Christmas time! Green tea is packed full of nutrients and has long been considered good for your health – and that includes the liver!

Because of way black tea is processed, green tea
is said to have more health benefits as it is more natural. It is high in antioxidants which are known to have many benefits including protecting the body from diseases. If you are planning a big night out, a pot of green tea in the afternoon is perfect to prepare your body!

It is also important to make sure you eat a good meal before your night out – drinking on an empty stomach is a big mistake! A good choice would be salmon and avocado – these two foods contain good types of fat, which will cause the alcohol to travel more slowly through the walls of the stomach, therefore having less of an effect on the liver.
If you have gone out without having anything to eat, if you can get a bowl of olives in the pub this will help, or some nuts which are also rich in good fats. Of course, this isn’t as good as a proper meal beforehand, but can definitely help.


After you have finished, there are two things that you should drink on your arrival home, before you go to bed which can help you to not have a hangover – one of these is a dissolvable multivitamin (alcohol zaps your vitamin levels, so this will help restore them) and the other is a glass of water with a pinch of salt in it. Drinking alcohol also depletes your bodies salt content, so this will help build it back up – happy hangover free Christmas!
