If you have a work Christmas party coming up, you will probably be thinking of how to prepare your liver for the onslaught! Christmas is traditionally a time when people tend to let their hair downmor e, and when it comes to drinking most people go for it over the Christmas season! Even the most sober of people will have a few drinks at this time of the year. The bars are full of good cheer, the shops are full of people shopping for festive outfits perfect for their parties such as mens designer shirts form Farah shirts and ladies looking for beautiful ball towns for a black-tie party at a posh hotel. But how can you make sure you stay as healthy as possible during the party season?
Your liver can take a bit of a battering when you are drinking constantly, but some foods and drink sare good for your liver – and these are the ones you will want to be stocking up on at Christmas time! Green tea is packed full of nutrients and has long been considered good for your health – and that includes the liver!
Because of way black tea is processed, green tea is said to have more health benefits as it is more natural. It is high in antioxidants which are known to have many benefits including protecting the body from diseases. If you are planning a big night out, a pot of green tea in the afternoon is perfect to prepare your body!
It is also important to make sure you eat a good meal before your night out – drinking on an empty stomach is a big mistake! A good choice would be salmon and avocado – these two foods contain good types of fat, which will cause the alcohol to travel more slowly through the walls of the stomach, therefore having less of an effect on the liver. If you have gone out without having anything to eat, if you can get a bowl of olives in the pub this will help, or some nuts which are also rich in good fats. Of course, this isn’t as good as a proper meal beforehand, but can definitely help.
After you have finished, there are two things that you should drink on your arrival home, before you go to bed which can help you to not have a hangover – one of these is a dissolvable multivitamin (alcohol zaps your vitamin levels, so this will help restore them) and the other is a glass of water with a pinch of salt in it. Drinking alcohol also depletes your bodies salt content, so this will help build it back up – happy hangover free Christmas!
There hasn’t been a lot of coverage of it in the news (which is a bit of a shame) but the Men’s Hockey World cup is currently taking place in India at the present moment. The competition runs from the twenty eighth of November to the sixteenth of December. Hockey is massive on the Asian continent and this event, the fourteenth of its kind opened to a huge reception including the largest ever drone show assembled for a display. To show how much the sport has grown in popularity the number of teams has been increased to sixteen and a new format has had to be introduced to accommodate them. You can bet that the teams have all been watching their Hockey Training drill Videos in preparation for this great tournament .
This time round there are to be four Pools or Mini leagues similar to other World cup competitions. Teams in the Pool play each other once and the top three teams will go through. As with football a three points for a win system is in place. The four winners of the groups avoid each other in the second round by being placed in the Quarter finals proper automatically. The eight runners up are placed in a crossover round where they play a corresponding team in a knockout match. Win this match and you go through into the Quarter finals proper to face a group winner. As with a standard competition there then follows the Semi-finals and final to decide the winner.
Qualification in the first place had to be changed as well with a more rigours selection process. India as the host qualified automatically and so did the top 11 teams from the Two Thousand and Seventeen World League Semi-finals held in the UK and South Africa provided the others. The final four spots were taken from the winners of the pan American Cup, the Euro Hockey Nations Championship, the Oceania Cup, Hockey Asia cup (although as India had one this and was the host the spot was given to China and the Hockey Africa Cup of Nations. All of these competitions were held a year before the world cup in two thousand and seventeen as well.
As we write the completion is in its Quarterfinals proper stage. As expected Australia, Germany, India and Argentina
are through all being considered in the top ten playing teams in the world plus the Argentinians are the reigning
Olympic champions and will play England. The surprise package are the French who despite being rated sixteenth in
the world they beat the Argentinians in the group stages and Spain who are above them. They face Australia next,
can they care on the momentum?
